Land Acknowledgement for the Mississauga Potters' Guild
"We acknowledge that the Mississauga Potters’ Guild is located on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First nation and as well as the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee (hoe-dee-no-SHOW-nee) peoples.
The guild is situated within the bound of the Head of the Lake Treaty No. 14, agreed upon by the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the British Crown in 1806 and the Credit River Reserves Treaty No. 22 agreed upon in 1820.
Colonial settlement repeatedly impacted the indigenous peoples of this land, ever decreasing their way of life.
We respectfully share this territory in peace and friendship.
We are grateful to create upon this land.
We re-affirm our committment to do the work, to unlearn and relearn, towards a true reconciliation."
