Open Studio FAQ

Are Open Studio fees refundable? Can I transfer it to another session?

Fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another session but can be transferred for the same day to a family member or friend if you are not able to attend.

Do I need to register in advance?

Yes, spaces are limited and only registered participants can join the session.

What will I be able to make at Open Studio? Are there any size limitations?

Participants get enough clay to make up to 3 small pieces, samples and ideas are provided. Leaders will review your plan to ensure you can complete your items in the time given. Pieces can be no larger than 8 inches any direction.

Can I finish my project next Open Studio?

All projects must be completed during the session.

How much is Open Studio?

Can I take any unused clay home?

Any unused clay needs to remains at the Guild for your own health and safety. Using clay at home requires training and understanding of health and disposal concerns.

Can my child attend the open studio?

Participants age 14 and older can register for Open Studio independently without parental supervision.

Participants age 8-14 years old must be accompanied by a paid participant who is 18 years or older and available to supervise the youth.

How will my piece be finished?

Finished work will be bisqued (fired in the kiln) and then dipped in glaze and fired a second time. The finished work will be coated with a foodsafe glaze (dishwasher and microwave safe).

Can I choose my glaze?

Yes, you can choose a glaze for each piece from the offered selection of studio glazes. You will hear more about this at the open studio session.

Can my child use the wheel during our Open Studio session?

Participants age 10 and above can use the wheel if there is an Open Studio Leader available to instruct

Is someone able to come and watch me during Open Studio?

The studio has limited space, we can only accomondate paid participants during open studio

How long until my piece is ready for pickup?

Your pieces will typically be ready for pickup 8-10 weeks after your Open Studio session. Please wait for notification before coming to collect them.
